Talk to DaniSt. Petersburg built its identity on arts and waterfront: a continuous public shoreline downtown, a major museum cluster, and neighbourhoods of bungalows and mid-century homes between the bay and the Gulf beaches.
Pinellas County between Tampa Bay and the Gulf beaches, connected by I-275.
Here is what I'd tell you about daily life: downtown is genuinely walkable; the beaches are a short drive across the peninsula.
Something worth watching: concentrated downtown as vertical development; elsewhere, redevelopment of existing lots.
For getting around, here is what you should know: walkable core, car-based elsewhere; I-275 connects to Tampa and the airports.

The area
A waterfront arts district of murals and piers along Tampa Bay.
Real life here
Downtown St. Petersburg is genuinely walkable, so weekdays often mean walking to work, coffee or the waterfront parks without a car, while weekends bring the museum district, Central Avenue's shops and restaurants, and a short drive across the peninsula to the Gulf beaches.
Central Avenue and the downtown core carry the densest concentration of restaurants and cafés, mixing long-running local kitchens with newer openings tied to the city's growth. Bungalow neighborhoods further out each keep smaller commercial pockets of their own.
Groceries, pharmacies and clinics are distributed across downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods, with hospitals and larger specialist care available within the city and along I-275 toward Tampa.
Hurricane season runs June through November, and St. Petersburg's low elevation means storm-surge and flood-zone exposure can change block by block, which makes flood insurance a genuine line-item to check for the specific address rather than the neighborhood in general. The cooler months bring the most comfortable weather and the heaviest visitor season; summer brings heat, humidity and near-daily afternoon storms.

Real indicators
These numbers are published per county, not per neighbourhood or community. They show the direction of the market around this area, they do not estimate the price of a specific home.
The midpoint asking price of homes listed across the whole county that month. It is what sellers ask, not what buyers pay, and a county is far larger than a single community, a specific neighbourhood can sit well above or below it.

Asking price divided by interior area, at the county midpoint. It travels better between areas than a total price because it partly removes house size from the comparison, but it still ignores lot, age, finish level and view.
