Talk to DaniSanford was a steamboat and citrus port before it was a suburb, and the downtown still shows it: two-storey brick blocks, a marina and a waterfront park. Around that core sit older neighbourhoods and newer subdivisions to the south and east.
North Seminole County on Lake Monroe and the St. Johns River, at the north end of the SunRail line.
Here is what I'd tell you about daily life: downtown dining and the riverwalk anchor evenings; the airport and I-4 handle travel.
Something worth watching: active on the outer edges, with downtown supply arriving through renovation and infill.
For getting around, here is what you should know: car-based, with SunRail, I-4 and SR-417 all serving the city.
The area

Real life here
Downtown Sanford runs on foot: brick-street blocks of restaurants and shops, the Riverwalk along Lake Monroe, and a marina that turns evenings into a lakefront routine. Outside those blocks, the rest of the city is car-based, with the regional airport and I-4 handling travel and commuting.
First Street's brick blocks hold the concentration of restaurants, cafés and bars downtown, mixing longtime local spots with newer openings; chain dining and larger supermarkets are along US-17-92 and SR-46.
A hospital, clinics, pharmacies and banks serve downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods directly, with Orlando Sanford International Airport a few minutes from the city centre.
Downtown events and the Riverwalk are busiest in the cooler months; airport flight paths and seasonal charter traffic are worth checking for specific streets before buying.
