A small town on the south shore of Lake Apopka, next to Winter Garden, organised around the West Orange Trail and a preserved historic centre.
Oakland has deliberately kept its scale: tree ordinances, a nature preserve, low-rise development and a street grid that still reads as nineteenth-century. It sits beside one of the fastest-growing corridors in the metro without matching its density.

Day to day, this is what you can expect: the trail is the spine of daily life; Winter Garden's downtown covers most retail and dining.

The West Orange Trail is the spine of the week: a ride or walk into Winter Garden's Plant Street for coffee and dinner, a stop at the Oakland Nature Preserve on Lake Apopka, and a small, deliberately low-key historic centre for everything else.
The town itself has a small selection; Winter Garden's Plant Street district, reached directly by trail, covers most restaurants and the weekly farmers market.
Most groceries, pharmacies and clinics are reached in Winter Garden; Oakland keeps its own commercial footprint intentionally small.
The trail is busiest in the cooler months, when Winter Garden's downtown events also draw crowds; summer keeps the usual afternoon storm pattern.
